Ducati®, an iconic name in the motorcycle industry, has its roots firmly planted in Bologna, Italy. Established in 1926 by Antonio Cavalieri Ducati and his sons Adriano, Marcello, and Bruno, the company originally focused on producing radio equipment and electronics. However, as the company grew, so did its ambitions. After World War II left its factories in ruins, Ducati pivoted to the burgeoning motorcycle industry, creating the Cucciolo, a 48cc engine designed to be attached to bicycles.
In 1949, Ducati unveiled its first motorcycle, the Ducati 60, featuring a 60cc engine. This was just the start of a series of groundbreaking developments that would establish Ducati as a leader in motorcycle innovation. The 1955 Gran Sport Marianna marked Ducati’s bold entrance into the racing scene, laying the foundation for its future in high-performance motorcycles. The early 1970s saw the introduction of Ducati’s signature 90° V-twin engines in an L-shape with a desmodromic timing system.
Throughout the decades, Ducati continued to push the boundaries of motorcycle design and performance. The 1970s brought the 750 Super Sport Desmo, a bike that would become legendary among racing enthusiasts. The 1980s saw the introduction of the streamlined 750 F1, 851, and 888 models. The 1994 introduction of the 916 was a landmark moment for Ducati, as this model became an instant icon with its design and superior performance. Over the years, Ducati’s relentless pursuit of innovation has produced a series of exceptional motorcycles that continue to captivate enthusiasts and racers alike.
