Saint Laurent Productions proudly announced its participation in the 77th Cannes Film Festival with three feature films: “Emilia Perez” by Jacques Audiard, “The Shrouds” by David Cronenberg, and “Parthenope” by Paolo Sorrentino. This is a pioneering venture as Saint Laurent becomes the first fashion house to engage fully in film production, a move envisioned by Anthony Vaccarello.
“The Shrouds,” a film directed by David Cronenberg, features a stellar cast including Vincent Cassel, Diane Kruger, Guy Pearce, and Sandrine Holt. The narrative centers on Karsh, a prominent businessman played by Cassel, who is devastated by his wife’s death. He creates “GraveTech,” a controversial technology that allows the living to monitor the deceased within their burial shrouds. The plot intensifies when Karsh’s wife’s grave, among others, is desecrated, prompting him to seek out the culprits.
The film has a talented production team, with Douglas Koch serving as the director of photography, Carol Spier as the production designer, and Christopher Donaldson handling editing. Anne Dixon is responsible for costume design, while the costumes’ artistic vision is provided by Anthony Vaccarello of Saint Laurent. Howard Shore, known for his film scores, provides the musical backdrop to this haunting tale.
