THEMOIRè, a visionary brand known for its commitment to sustainability and community support, has launched its Spring-Summer 2024 capsule, TOGETHER by THEMOIRè // CHAPTER 03 – COLOMBIA. This new installment continues the brand’s macro-project which seeks to celebrate and elevate the artisanal heritage of vulnerable communities by transforming it into commercially viable products. This initiative not only supports the local economies but also helps finance community-based initiatives.
Located in Sandoná, a town in the mountainous region of Nariño, Colombia, this project taps into the rich tradition of weaving that is a staple of daily life here. The initiative has engaged two hundred local women artisans known as ‘tejedoras‘, who specialize in working with natural Iraca palm fibers. These fibers are not only completely biodegradable but are also a testament to the sustainable practices that THEMOIRè aims to promote. The artisans have created a series of unique pieces for the capsule using traditional techniques that result in beautiful dégradé and full-color weaves.

The products from this capsule collection include a range of handbags and shoulder bags in soft, contemporary shapes named Tia, Bios, Kobo, Flor, and Phoebe. Each piece is crafted entirely by hand and comes in three colors, inspired by the vibrant hues of Colombian cities. These designs not only showcase the impeccable craftsmanship of the local artisans but also bring a piece of Colombian culture to the global market.

The TOGETHER by THEMOIRè project is deeply committed to giving back to the communities it works with. In this chapter, 100% of the revenue from the capsule collection will be directed towards supporting the children of the tejedoras, particularly those with disabilities and special needs. This funding aims to provide these children with the necessary resources to live their lives in the best possible conditions.

The impact of TOGETHER by THEMOIRè extends beyond just financial assistance; it also involves storytelling through visuals. The brand collaborates with local artists and photographers to document the process and the people behind the products. For CHAPTER 03, Colombian photographer Jorge Panchoaga was enlisted to capture the essence of the project and the community through his lens, emphasizing the connection between the environment, the community, and the art of craftsmanship.

Each chapter of the TOGETHER project builds on the last, creating a lasting legacy of support and empowerment for communities around the world, demonstrating that even small individual actions can contribute to significant global change.
