Italian luxury house Ferragamo unveiled its Resort 2025 Collection, revisiting the sophisticated and dynamic spirit of the 1970s, as seen through the eyes of Creative Director Maximilian Davis. Exploring the brand’s archival campaigns from this important era, Davis sought to reinterpret the essence of Ferragamo’s identity, infusing the designs with a modern sensibility that captures both the glamour and the ease characteristic of the seventies.
This collection reflects Davis’s ongoing dialogue with the brand’s heritage, emphasizing fluidity and sensuality. He incorporates modern fabrics that echo the era’s aesthetics, such as liquid sequins that shimmer with movement, flocked denim that adds texture, and draped silks that suggest a form of soft luxury. These materials are crafted into languid silhouettes that communicate a relaxed, yet confident approach to luxury fashion.

One of the standout features of the collection is its emphasis on dualities – balancing between the allure and the sleaze of the 1970s. Davis explores this theme through the design of viscose batwing minidresses and thigh-high tailored pieces that exude a bold Ferragamo confidence. The footwear further amplifies this narrative, with high-shine kitten heels and graphic cut-out mules accented with boudoir-inspired feather trims, introducing a subtle fetishistic allure to the collection.
Davis does not shy away from more assertive elements either, incorporating second-skin booties and bold snakeskin prints that amplify the collection’s energetic aura. This interplay of textures and prints adds a layer of complexity, inviting a closer look and deeper appreciation of each piece.
The Ferragamo Resort 2025 collection also revisits classic Ferragamo tailoring with a contemporary twist. The tailored pieces feature a strong shoulder line and a cinched waist, constructed from innovative materials like coated raffia and crisp cotton. These elements highlight the craftsmanship and attention to detail that are hallmarks of the Ferragamo brand.

In both menswear and womenswear, Davis reintroduces loafers, which encapsulate an elegant nonchalance. The iconic Hug bag is reimagined – softened and deconstructed for a more relaxed form, while maintaining its singular handle and luxurious leather composition. Also, a new handbag makes its debut, inspired by the drape of scarves and crafted from supple leather, demonstrating Ferragamo’s commitment to innovation within its accessory line.
Davis’s approach to color in this collection is particularly noteworthy. Drawing from a historical Ferragamo palette, he introduces bold hues like fuchsia and Bordeaux, interspersed with the signature Ferragamo red. These colors are strategically placed to animate the pieces with vibrancy and life, visible in the lining of the Hug bag or in subtle stitching details.

Throughout the Resort 2025 collection, Davis reinforces the language of modern Ferragamo with a focus on refined minimalism enriched by intriguing details. His designs reflect a thoughtful consideration of how people invest in their wardrobes today, seeking pieces that combine timeless elegance with a hint of playfulness.
“I am interested in playing with classicism, and a classic way of dressing – that feels very Italian to me,” Davis remarks, encapsulating his vision for Ferragamo.
