The OUR LEGACY Spring/Summer 2025 collection, aptly titled “BLOOD KNOT,” embarks on a narrative that explores the intersection of exterior and interior spaces. The collection’s presentation is uniquely perceived through dividing glass, merging the outer and inner landscapes into a singular visual experience. The glass not only creates reflections and mirages but also distorts the environment, adding a layer of complexity to the visual storytelling. This conceptual framework captures the transition from the sun-drenched outdoors into confined indoor spaces, where the initial relief from heat gives way to an overwhelming sense of claustrophobia.
Manifesting this environmental shift, the presentation features individuals in garments that appear drenched and wrung, as if they have just emerged from the shore. Their bodies are marked by sweat and sunburn, with hair still wet from the ocean, emphasizing the raw, tactile connection to the coastal setting.
The collection ingeniously reimagines traditional fishing nets into refined, intricate knitwear and crochet weaves, capturing the essence of the coastal village. The jewelry in the collection further enhances this theme, with pieces resembling trinkets found on the beach. Silver rings, necklaces, and bracelets are crafted to look like bottle caps, seashells, fishing rods, and nautical knots, evoking a sense of seaside discovery and rustic charm.
The color palette of “BLOOD KNOT” is evocative of the seashore at dawn, featuring soft hues of pastel blues, greens, and rust. These serene tones are punctuated by richer tints of plum and burgundy, particularly in key pieces like the Court Coat, Mainsail Skirt, and Horizon Jacket. These colors replicate the oxidizing effect of saltwater and minerals on metals and fabrics, adding depth and authenticity to the collection. Over-dyed denim mimics dried sea grass, while seasonal prints draw inspiration from vintage holiday postcards, and crinkled jerseys emulate the texture of wet fabric.
Cristopher Nying, co-founder of OUR LEGACY, cites an intriguing inspiration behind this season’s theme. “There were these pictures of boat engines photographed by my friend, wrapped in mismatched fabrics and entangled in string. These images have been with us for some time and served as the starting point for this season. They depict a close-knit community in a village, taking what you have for a utilitarian purpose and creating unexpected beauty,” Nying explains. This sentiment captures the heart of “BLOOD KNOT,” where practicality and aesthetic merge.
In “BLOOD KNOT,” OUR LEGACY masterfully weaves a story of coastal life, where the boundaries between human and nature, utility and beauty, are fluid and interconnected. The collection not only showcases the brand’s innovative design ethos but also pays homage to the resilience and creativity of fishing communities. Through thoughtful details and a rich narrative, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection stands as an example of the enduring appeal of coastal life and the beauty found in its simplicity and functionality.

OUR LEGACY is seriously cool! I love how they’ve used glass to blend the inside and outside vibes—it’s like you’re walking through a mirage or something. The soaked and sunburnt looks really sell that fresh-off-the-beach vibe, which is pretty unique. Plus, turning fishing nets into chic knitwear? Genius! The whole seaside trinket jewelry idea is a sweet touch too. It’s awesome to see such a creative spin on coastal life, making the everyday seem extraordinary. Hats off to them!
brand to watch for sure!
