SONGZIO made a bold statement at the Paris Men’s Fashion Week with its Spring-Summer 2025 collection titled ‘Bright Star’. This collection marks the brand’s first foray into co-ed fashion, merging artistic inspiration with sartorial innovation. The inspiration stemmed from a series of aquarelle portraits of boys, symbolizing wonder and imagination. The central artwork of the collection, an oil tetraptych depicting the North Star, encapsulates the steadfast guidance and inspiration that the collection aims to convey.
SPRING SUMMER 2025
The designs in the ‘Bright Star’ collection merge romantic post-war aesthetics with SONGZIO’s signature technical tailoring and oriental modernism. This convergence is apparent in the dramatically rounded cocoon silhouettes, exaggerated volumes, and sculptural draping that bring a sense of order. Conversely, the transformative layering, complex patchworks, and asymmetrical mobiles introduce a sense of disorder, creating a dynamic tension within the collection.
SONGZIO’s color palette for this season emphasizes its signature black, complemented by hues of grey and navy, with youthful touches of sky blue and pink. The fabrics themselves become canvases for colorful aquarelles and oil paintings, adding a vibrant dimension to the garments. This interplay of colors not only illuminates the collection but also reinforces the central theme of dualism—order and disorder, light and darkness, classical and avant-garde.
The collection’s standout pieces are the asymmetric mobiles. These unique creations feature hand-cut pieces linked together to evoke sculptural beauty and fluidity. Whether in motion or stillness, these mobiles capture the youthful wonder and elegance that are core to the collection’s ethos. They symbolize the coexistence of contrasting elements, a theme that resonates throughout the entire collection.
The use of contrasting fabrics is key to achieving the collection’s bold sculptural silhouettes. Hard and textured materials like bonded wool, tweed, metallic fabrics, and synthetic leather with metallic lining are used to create dramatic shapes such as cocoons and voluminous bell forms. In contrast, the collection also incorporates light, transparent, and fluid fabrics like silk, organza, mesh, cotton, and linen. This combination renders the garments sculptural in stillness yet fluid in motion.
By exploring themes of dualism and drawing from the rich well of artistic expression, the collection stands out as a beacon of innovation and creativity. As the garments flow down the runway, they tell a story of balance and contrast, reflecting the ever-present dance between order and disorder, and capturing the essence of imagination.
