Feng Chen Wang’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection draws inspiration from ancient artifacts, seamlessly blending past and present in a celebration of timeless craftsmanship. Each piece in this collection reflects Wang’s meticulous attention to detail, capturing the essence of natural rhythms through material craftsmanship and silhouette design. The collection features carefully carved ceramics and redefined fabric textures that mimic the naturally occurring cracks in handcrafted clay, offering a contemporary feel infused with a futuristic vitality. Signature elements like handwoven bamboo transform into light, fluid lines, creating a tranquil and comfortable natural environment. Traditional fabrics such as cloud silk (xiangyun sha) and fish roe resist-dyed (yuzi xie) fabric are masterfully integrated, creating a modern “collector’s” collection that expresses Wang’s long-held inspirations and thoughts. Photographer Christian François captured a backstage glimpse at the show, exclusively for DSCENE Magazine.
BACKSTAGE
The harmonious color palette of celadon green and chestnut brown evokes a sense of serenity and timelessness, paying homage to the rich cultural heritage that inspires Wang’s designs. This collection brilliantly marries the tones and essence of Chinese painting with the rhythm of modernity, resulting in garments that bridge the ancient and the contemporary. The unique footwear, featuring sculptural elements and crackled glaze reminiscent of porcelain, showcase Wang’s innovative approach. This includes a refresh of the UGG Tasman shoe, where the imperfections in porcelain firing are reimagined to symbolize the merging of past and future. Debuting alongside this collection is a new capsule line, the “féng” label, symbolizing the brand’s respect for traditional sewing techniques and its commitment to heritage craftsmanship. Through this collection, Feng Chen Wang steps lightly across the boundaries of time, creating a narrative that is both historically rich and strikingly modern.
