LVMH and the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee have revealed the eco-designed outfits for volunteer medals bearers and the specially crafted medals trays by Louis Vuitton for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. Paris, renowned as the fashion capital of the world, is once again set to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games, marking 100 years since it last welcomed this global event. To honor this heritage, LVMH has designed outfits that pay homage to the 1920s, a pivotal era in fashion marked by the rise of sportswear, the empowerment of feminism, and the advent of unisex styles.
The 515 medals bearers, chosen from young members of national sports federations across France, will don these outfits that celebrate France’s rich cultural and social history. The designs emphasize fluidity and freedom of movement, essential for the dynamic role these volunteers will play during the Victory Ceremonies.
Each unisex outfit includes a polo shirt, roomy pants, and a traditional gavroche cap. These garments are not only stylish but also embody LVMH’s dedication to sustainability:
The polo shirts and gavroche caps are made from jersey fabric created from recycled textiles, using offcuts from various LVMH Maisons. These materials have been upcycled by Weturn, a certified B Corp company that transforms unsold textile inventory into new fabrics. The heavy jersey fabric was then crafted in the Vosges region of France in a GOTS-certified workshop. The pants are made from a poly-wool blend using recycled polyester.
The polo shirts are produced by Duval, a family-led enterprise in France’s Vosges region, while the pants are made by La Fabrique NOMADE, a non-profit organization that integrates refugee artisans into the French market. The gavroche hats are manufactured in Italy.
All outfits will be given to the volunteer medals bearers, allowing them to retain a piece of this historic event.
Evoking Louis Vuitton’s trunk-making heritage, the unique medals trays were crafted by expert artisans at the Beaulieu-sur-Layon workshop, known for its leather goods. The trays feature an exterior covered in Louis Vuitton’s historic Damier canvas, created in 1888, and an interior lined with matte black leather, mirroring the interiors of the Louis Vuitton Torches and Medals Trunks.
Designed to be lightweight, each tray can hold between two to six medals, adding an extra touch of French savoir-faire to the moment of victory. These trays will carry the medals designed by the jeweler Chaumet, underscoring the exceptional craftsmanship that defines both the Maison and the Paris 2024 Games.
The medals trays join a prestigious collection of bespoke cases created specifically for Paris 2024, epitomizing LVMH’s mission, “the Art of Crafting Dreams.” These objects reflect LVMH’s role as “the Artisan of All Victories” for the Paris 2024 Games, continuing a legacy of creating beautifully crafted trunks that blend ingenious design with artisanal skill.
Pietro Beccaro, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, expressed pride in the collaboration: “We are honoured and extremely proud to be part of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 with the mission of packing and presenting the defining symbols of Paris 2024: the victors’ medals and the torches of the Olympic flame. For over 170 years, Louis Vuitton has been creating trunks that embody excellence, creativity and audacity, values we share with the world’s greatest sporting events. Louis Vuitton and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 share common values such as the quest for excellence, creativity, and the beauty technique. Once again, victory travels in Louis Vuitton.”
Antoine Arnault, LVMH Image & Environment, highlighted the group’s broader commitment: “Following the unveiling of the Olympic and Paralympic medals designed by the Maison Chaumet, LVMH is once again fully expressing its role as premium partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, and “Artisan of all Victories, this time with Louis Vuitton. Protecting the symbol of Paris 2024 – the torches – and the dreams of the greatest athletes – the medals – required the expertise of exceptional craftsmen. Louis Vuitton has put its 170 years of expertise in trunks design at the service of Paris 2024, to protect and present the medals, and to take the torches around the country. It is a great source of pride today to unveil these original creations, which I’m sure will remain engraved in the history of the Group and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024!”
