Ancuta Sarca ’s SS25 collection is a daring mix of contrasting influences, combining the structured, minimalist corporate world of the 2020s with the rebellious energy of the 1960s. Known for her ability to bring together different eras, Sarca draws from the everyday grind of modern corporate life—dark suits, monochrome tracksuits, and neutral tones—while injecting elements of boldness and expression. Her inspiration comes from observing the streets of London, where practical, corporate attire meets individual style choices, from Crocs to Clarks, embodying the duality of comfort and statement fashion.
This season’s designs explore a striking contrast between the rigid corporate aesthetic and the free-spirited energy of the 1960s. Sarca infuses animal prints into sportswear, upcycling snakeskin high heels with masculine shirt collars and pairing oversized leopard-print boots with athletic stripes. The collection’s dualities reflect the different roles people juggle in contemporary life. New menswear pieces incorporate cycling and sportswear references, transforming classic styles like loafers into unique designs, with key materials including faux snakeskin, chrome, and monochrome tones.
A key feature of SS25 is Sarca’s collaboration with footwear giants Crocs and Clarks, injecting fresh energy into their classic styles. Sarca reimagines Clarks Originals Wallabees, using deadstock shoes to craft something entirely new. Three versions of these redesigned Wallabees were showcased at 180 Strand, emphasizing sustainability while presenting a fresh aesthetic. The transformation of the Wallabees into something contemporary, without sacrificing their original essence, demonstrates Sarca’s inventive approach to repurposing.
The collaboration with Crocs pushes the boundaries even further, as Sarca deconstructs classic Crocs designs and remakes them with her distinct creative touch. By blending elements of trainers and loafers into Crocs, she creates a unique hybrid style while preserving the instantly recognizable silhouette. Techniques such as electrostatic flocking add texture and dimension, bringing out the playful, bold aspects of the designs without compromising on comfort or practicality.
Crocs’ Marketing VP, Yann Le Bozec, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting how Sarca’s fresh perspective reinvents Crocs’ classic models. The reinterpretation of the Classic Clog and Siren Clog infuses Sarca’s forward-thinking approach with Crocs’ iconic functionality, resulting in designs that feel innovative and unconventional. The collaboration speaks to the possibilities that arise when designers rethink traditional footwear.
Ancuța Sarca’s SS25 collection moves between corporate formality and expressive experimentation, challenging conventional ideas of fashion. The collection explores the overlap between past and present influences, offering a vision of fashion where practicality and bold design coexist in harmony.
