On September 23rd, CFCL showcased its VOL.9 Collection at the Saut du Loup in Palais de Tokyo, marking its second runway presentation since joining the official Paris Fashion Week calendar in 2022. The show, set against a vibrant gradient of orange, featured an immersive soundtrack by the Slovenian trio Širom, blending ethnic and contemporary sounds. The collection offered a rich variety of garments that intersected traditional methods with cutting-edge technology, envisioning a future of clothing that harmoniously connects with the world. The theme of the CFCL Spring/Summer 2025 collection is “Knit-Ware – Handbuilt,” emphasizing the integration of advanced 3D computer knitting techniques with traditional handcrafting. One standout category, FLAT – CREASE, draws inspiration from flat ethnic costumes of Africa and the Silk Road. The dresses are crafted using 2D seamless knitwear designed through 3D programming, resulting in a unique fit and elegant drape that exemplifies the collection’s innovative approach to fashion.
Another highlight is the DYEING – CHUSEN segment, featuring Japanese silk dresses and two-piece sets dyed using the traditional CHUSEN technique. This method involves pouring dye in stripes onto randomly folded fabrics, creating bold psychedelic patterns through chance. The dynamic interplay of color and texture showcases the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and creativity. Additionally, the KNIKAT category, inspired by Southeast Asian “Ikat” techniques, uses recycled polyester yarn to create vibrant, multi-colored designs, demonstrating the collection’s focus on sustainability.
The collection also includes HANDWORK – FRINGE, where a recycled polyester dress is intricately programmed with small holes and adorned with 2320 fringes threaded by hand. This design emphasizes both aesthetic appeal and practicality, allowing for a unique and eye-catching look. Finally, the CROCHET PATCHWORK category showcases organic motifs crafted without machine assistance, highlighting the creativity of human hands in contrast to technological processes. Each piece illustrates the infinite possibilities of craftsmanship, showcasing how innovation and tradition coexist beautifully in CFCL’s VOL.9 Collection.
