In just one season, Chloé’s creative director Chemena Kamali has shifted the direction of modern style, leading the rise of the nouveau-boho aesthetic along with the return of ’70s staples like hobo bags and wedges. SS25 collection titled “Freedom Collection,” Kamali captured the feeling of summer, evoking a sense of warmth through her designs.

Sienna Miller and Liya Kebede were among the front row as models appeared in ethereal lace dresses and tiered skirts. Kamali’s vision of sun-faded fabrics gave the collection a dreamy, nostalgic quality, as if each piece had soaked up the summer sun. Having worked at Chloé for years, Kamali has a strong grasp of the house’s history, and she referenced archival pieces with modern updates, including sherbet-hued jackets, ’70s-style trousers, and intricate crocheted designs.
Kamali also added a few playful and unexpected elements, such as a flamingo-printed bathing suit, an oversized gold shell belt, and bloomers. Rich floral prints, inspired by a 1977 artwork, enhanced several pieces, bringing vibrant energy to the collection. Accessories were another highlight, featuring shell and stone jewelry with a vintage feel, along with raffia bags and jelly flats that perfectly captured the essence of summer.
A year into her role as creative director, Kamali’s ability to balance Chloé’s past and present is clear. Having started her career at Chloé under Phoebe Philo, Kamali brings a deep understanding of the maison’s identity. Her work at the Tennis Club de Paris, with its nature-inspired décor, showcased her talent for interpreting the brand’s legacy while moving it forward.
Lace was a consistent feature throughout the collection, appearing in tops, dresses, and corsair pants. Soft pastels dominated, but Kamali also introduced bold floral prints and large motifs, creating an unexpected contrast. Tailored high-waisted bell-bottom pants and long coats added structure to the otherwise free-flowing pieces, while ruffles and bolero-inspired designs kept the collection playful.
Kamali’s Summer 2025 collection for Chloé is feminine, light, and effortlessly chic. Her second show demonstrates her skill in reinterpreting the house’s identity in a way that feels fresh and relevant today. As Kamali continues to carve her path at Chloé, her work suggests she is pushing the brand in exciting new directions with ease and confidence.
