Since its debut last year, the ASICS GEL-NYC has become a standout in the brand’s sportstyle lineup, frequently used for collaborations. PLEASURES, the Los Angeles-based label known for its bold and unconventional designs, is now back with its own take on the silhouette. Co-founder Alex James recently teased the upcoming release on Instagram, showcasing the shoe’s earthy color scheme that mixes brown, yellow, and soft pink, drawing inspiration from 1990s hiking shoes.

The design features brown suede across key areas like the mudguard, eyestays, and toe cap, complemented by matching brown GEL capsules and a similarly toned midsole for a cohesive look. Adding a contemporary twist, PLEASURES replaces the usual mesh with pink ripstop fabric on the base, while their logo appears stitched in brown on the toe box. The combination of colors and materials gives the shoe a distinctive, retro outdoor vibe while maintaining a modern edge.

This collaboration marks PLEASURES and ASICS’ first joint project since their 2022 GEL-LYTE III release, and the two brands have a well-established history of successful partnerships. PLEASURES has a reputation for pushing the envelope, and this iteration of the GEL-NYC continues that trend, bringing fresh design elements to a model that blends modern performance with ASICS’ rich running heritage.
The PLEASURES ASICS GEL-NYC will be released on October 11th at 1:00 PM EST online for $160. While additional retailers haven’t been confirmed, select stores like HBX are expected to carry the shoe. Updates will be available on sneaker release hubs as the launch date approaches, generating considerable anticipation within the sneaker community.

The GEL-NYC, which first hit the scene in 2023, draws from iconic ASICS models like the early 2000s GEL-NIMBUS 3 and the mid-90s GEL-MC PLUS V. PLEASURES’ take on the silhouette plays into the model’s retro roots while adding vibrant pops of color with egg yolk yellow and pink accents, balanced by the brown suede for a vintage hiking aesthetic.
