The Salone del Mobile.Milano returns from April 8 to 13, 2025, at Fiera Milano Rho, promising a groundbreaking 63rd edition under the theme “Thought for Humans.”
DESIGN
This year’s event brings a renewed focus on humanity’s deep connection with design, exploring light, matter, and their impact on everyday life. The event will also see the highly anticipated return of Euroluce, the biennial exhibition dedicated to the art of lighting.
The new communication campaign, titled “Thought for Humans,” is led by New York-based artist and photographer Bill Durgin. Known for his innovative work deconstructing the human form, Durgin captures evocative images that merge the human body with design materials like wood, metal, fabric, and bioplastic. The campaign celebrates the tactile and emotional connection between people and design, emphasizing its role in enriching daily life.
Durgin remarked: “Great design is not just aesthetically pleasing; it enhances everyday interactions, from sitting at a table with family to moving through spaces. This campaign celebrates a return to touch and connection.”
Renowned artist Robert Wilson will debut his latest project, Mother, at the Museo Pietà Rondanini in Castello Sforzesco. Curated by Franco Laera and created in collaboration with Comune di Milano | Cultura, the installation is a tribute to Michelangelo’s unfinished Pietà Rondanini. Wilson’s work integrates light, sound, and movement, set to the hauntingly beautiful Stabat Mater by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. This dramatic interpretation will run until May 18, offering a multisensory experience that bridges art, history, and design.
The Euroluce International Lighting Forum returns on April 10 and 11, bringing together leading voices in lighting design, architecture, and sustainability. Confirmed speakers include Robert Wilson, DRIFT, Kaoru Mende, and solar design pioneer Marjan van Aubel. The forum promises a dynamic mix of conferences, workshops, and round tables designed to inspire and educate, making Euroluce a must-visit for lighting professionals and enthusiasts.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of SaloneSatellite, the platform dedicated to emerging design talent. The milestone is commemorated with the publication of “Universo Satellite. 25 anni / years of SaloneSatellite,” a richly illustrated book edited by Beppe Finessi. The volume highlights the event’s significant contributions to the global design landscape, featuring over 1,200 images and insights into the creative processes of young innovators.
In addition to installations at Fiera Milano Rho, the city of Milan will host a series of immersive events, including public art displays and workshops, further enhancing the Salone del Mobile’s reputation as a cultural and creative hub.
Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano, emphasizes the event’s broader mission: “The Salone has always been a platform for growth and intercultural dialogue, illuminating Milan as a global center for creativity.”
The Salone del Mobile 2025 is set to continue its legacy as a cultural, creative, and commercial force in the design world, offering an unparalleled experience for industry professionals and enthusiasts alike. Mark your calendars for this unmissable event that celebrates design’s transformative power in shaping human experiences.
