On January 23, 2025, Balenciaga unveiled its Valentine Series, returning with a collection and campaign that reimagines the sentimentality of the holiday. The series focuses on garments that echo the emotions and gestures tied to Valentine’s Day, offering a fresh take on expressing affection.
VALENTINE’S DAY
The collection features zip-up hoodies and t-shirts treated with aged effects, a nod to Balenciaga’s signature aesthetic. Designed in oversized and fitted silhouettes, the pieces are adorned with “Happy Valentine’s Day” messages and a handwritten love poem, reminiscent of a personalized gift meant to touch the heart. These details create a sense of intimacy, making each item feel like a carefully crafted token of love.

The campaign, directed by artist Emma Alvin, takes an intimate perspective on Valentine’s Day. Presented through the lens of a door’s peephole, the imagery captures the anticipation of opening the door to greet someone special. This perspective adds an element of narrative, emphasizing the excitement and tenderness associated with the holiday.

Featured in the campaign are Elena, Redon, Jay Pak, and Momo, who appear carrying balloon flower arrangements, bouquets, and heart-shaped balloons. Their presence underscores the collection’s romantic theme, symbolizing the small yet meaningful gestures that define Valentine’s Day.
The handwritten love poem featured on the garments evokes the nostalgic feeling of a handwritten note or card, a personal touch often exchanged during the holiday. This subtle detail ties the collection to the emotions of the occasion, reminding wearers of the sentimental value behind each piece.

By combining Balenciaga’s modern aesthetic with elements of romance and nostalgia, the Valentine Series bridges contemporary style with heartfelt expression. The campaign’s creative direction and unique presentation bring these elements together, making the series not only visually engaging but also emotionally resonant.
