Etro‘s FW25 collection, titled “Etro Magma,” explores primordial theme combined with mythical narratives and tactile richness, presented against a dramatic set designed by Numero Cromatico. The runway transformed into a narrative tableau, where a sweeping curtain depicted an array of creatures, combining the mythical with the tangible. This backdrop set the stage for a collection that explored the depths of materiality and myth, interlacing the two with Marco De Vincenzo’s innovative design vision.

The collection itself is a study in textural depth and sophisticated layering. Fabrics are dense, often treated with glazes, rubberizations, and intricate embroidery that add a three-dimensional quality to the garments. Lines of clothing fluidly wrap around the body, with designs that flare in asymmetrical and fringed cuts. Pleats cinch at the waist, while a riot of fantastic flora adorns denim and corduroy.

Marco De Vincenzo’s creative direction for this season reflects a tactile fascination with the origins of creation, drawing parallels between ancient myths and modern fashion. The collection features wool brushed into softness, sweaters richly embroidered, and sequins arranged in geometric facets. These elements combine to form a wardrobe that feels both ancient and urgently contemporary, a line blurred between history and the present.

Jewelry and accessories echo the collection’s thematic core, with aliens and bees trapped in amber becoming focal points, symbolizing the intersection of the extraterrestrial and the earthly. The collaboration with Korean artist Maria Jeon introduces a layer of fantastical zoology, where embroidery envelops not just the clothing but extends to bags that bear soft, rounded shapes or clean, squared lines.

The collection extends its mythical touch to men’s fashion, where the same primordial motifs find expression in jackets, duffle coats, robe coats, and psychedelic velvets. Etro’s FW25 collection is a vivid exploration of creation myths and material transformations, presenting a wardrobe that is both a canvas for artistic expression and a collection of highly wearable art.
