Factice Magazine: There are quite a lot of women in OITNB. Which ones are you inspired by?
Jackie: Without a doubt it’s definitely Uzo Abduba, she is the kindest most talented person I know. I feel like “Orange is the new black” is like a master class and I learn everyday I’m on set with all of these talented women. I always have to bring my A game.

Factice Magazine: You grew up between American and Dominican culture. Is it where you draw your real strength?
Jackie: I am the millennial Latina, we are 1st generation American, but our families are from another country. I believe it’s important to have both cultures in your life. I can’t forget where my ancestors are from and I will never forget their hardships to make it to this country, so that I can have a better future. I am living the American Dream and I’m grateful to be here.
