From May 25th to 31st, Belgrade Design Week for the fourth time transformed Belgrade into a platform for world's design scene, an inspiring place for international creative exchange and an indicator of the latest trends in the fields of design, architecture, branding and communications. The title of this year’s creative conference was SPEED2, envisioned as a response to our fast changing world, the conference will once again gather mould breaking thinkers and present the most creative and innovative ideas, bridging the gap between global standards and local business. This year Belgrade Design Week speakers were Tony Chambers, the editor of Wallpaper, Rasmus Ibfelt from e-Types creative studio, Simon Jacomet from Zai Ski, architect Jurgen Mayer, Peter Bonnen from MUUTO, Serbian designers Branko Lukic and Sasa Lakic, Fread Deakin from Airside studio, POKE London and others.
New segment of Belgrade Design Week is designPark. The first designPark exhibition took place at a premium location in Belgrade, Kluz, iconic building of Yugoslavian culture and the first shopping mall in Belgrade which is closed ten years already. This was certainly one of the most interesting events of the Belgrade Design Week 09, marking the epicenter of congregation between business and creative forces in Serbia and the region. designPark presents a unique exhibition combination of world's cutting edge design objects, with the creative industries’ fair. In designPark were presented many exhibitions such are Italian Way of Seating – exhibition of Italian chair design in the second half of the twentieth century, Access to All by Britush Council, MUUTO and Normann Copenhagen exhibiton, Zepter Golden Age and many others.
The first designPark holds the ambition to establish itself as the annual showcase-convention of the Serbian and regional creative industries, with the vision to introduce competition programs, and develop a joint chairing process with outstanding representatives of the creative industries.
Belgrade Design Week 09 had a great music program also. In the same building were held concerts of Federico Aubele, Cineplexx, Fread Deakin from Lemon Jelly and MTV Party.
Belgrade Design Week Grand Prix for 2009 won MUUTO company.
