Milan based Jil Sander has presented fall winter 2016 womenswear collection during the Milano Fashion Week. Subtracting as an act of maximizing is the key to the collection.
FALL WINTER 2016 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
The Jil Sander collection unfolds after dark, getting a mysterious sheen and a dangerous tingle. Strictness, one of the defining codes of the house, meets sensuality. The tone is understated yet bold. Proportions are extreme: strong shoulders, daring volumes, elongated sleeves. Masculine tailoring stands away from the body: double breasted coats, faultless pantsuits. Gathered on the back, jackets gain a womanly curve. Dresses design a lean, elegant figure. Asymmetries and folds create a sense of unraveling. Shiny mohair knits add an unruly, wild note. The silhouette is decisive and vertical, with an emphasis on artificial surfaces. Leather has a glass hand. Foil is printed onto silks or textured wools. Metal is knitted into dresses. Dense embroideries like graphite scratches are an emotional, gestural touch. Flocked allover sequins provide a dry take on embellishment. The idea of severity as glamour is highlighted by the color palette: an amalgamation of greys and blacks with dashes of white and metallic pink. Thick, compact fabrics – felt, glazed wool, wool/lamè blends – contrast with the sensuality of silk and velvet. Silver knits highlight the nocturnal charm of the collection. Shoes are metallic patina leather pumps with curved heels. – from Jil Sander
