Carol Lim and Humberto Leon the design duo behind Kenzo, presented their Fall Winter 2016 womenswear collection during the recent Paris Fashion Week. The designers and their team celebrated the Kenzo sentiment with a reworked Kenzo floral and classic Kenzo tiger prints.
FALL WINTER 2016 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
Our Kenzo woman for fall-winter 2016/17 approaches life with nonchalant conviction. She tackles every adventure with an open mind and with respect for where she has previously tread. Much like our Kenzo woman, we wanted to create a collection which observes some of the house’s most notable codes but drives forward with an irreverent appreciation for what’s to come. Sailor moon’s confidence and quintessentially feminine approach to dressing empowers us. Empire waists lead the silhouette and offer construction to outerwear, shirts and dresses. At the collection’s core we find the duffle coat. Traditionally a classically functional garment, we have deconstructed and exaggerated its proportions and translated its structure and composition fortrousers, dresses and skirts. Toggle detailing appears throughout. We have reworked archive Kenzo floral (iris and dandelions) and classic Kenzo tiger prints and accompanied them with psychedelic checks. Colors of navy, rust, lavender and ‘uniform’ gray swathe fabrics of flannel, satin, velvet, faux astrakhan, corduroy and vinyl. Drippy floral bracelets and rings mingle with japanese schoolgirl satchels and a spectrum of rizo handbags. Our chelsea boots and sling-back pumps walk with centralized kitten heels and feature hand-painted florals. – Humberto Leon & Carol Lim
