Set at fairground and the surrounding countryside in California, Hugo’s FW17 Circus features unique talents, led by M.I.A, from music, art, fashion and social media. The Circus was inspired by David Lynch’s Crazy Clown Time, Twin Peaks and Wild at Heart.
“The campaign frames the menswear and womenswear collections for Fall/Winter 2017, designed on the same themes. Menswear presents a sartorial take on clothing rooted in the American outdoors. Looking to the style of the lumberjack, hunter and fisherman, denim and camouflage are reworked for the brand’s signature suits, while bold HUGO red appears as an all-over blanket design or as bold trims on the lapels of a tuxedo. Womenswear takes inspiration from David Lynch’s album Crazy Clown Time, incorporating circus elements into the collection. Bold stripes, oversize bows and high clown-chic collars are brought from the big top and translated into feminine tailoring, sportswear and accessories.“
