AUTUMN WINTER 2018 RUNWAYS
“Despite Taiwan’s struggle for a singular identity, Chin proposes his aesthetic vision as an alternative melting pot of cultures: incorporating elements of traditional Chinese culture, Taiwanese indigenous lore, Japonism, and new Western values. To wit, moments and gestures from Chin’s memory appear throughout the collection, from Taiwanese ‘Formosan’ patterns (woven into colourful sweaters) to multi-layered silhouettes inspired by 1990s Japanese television. An extensive use of contrasting textures enriches this personal collage, as masculine corduroy and fluffy knitwear meet feminine satin or silver hook & eye embroidery.“
