Acne Studios presented its Blå Konst Spring Summer 2018 collection inspired by artist Gabriel Kuri and his interest in everyday materials. To mark the launch of the collection, Kuri has created ten artworks for Acne Studios Blå Konst, which will be displayed in key stores around the world.
I love how Gabriel Kuri looks at the world. He brings together objects and materials to tell his own story, which resonates with how we do things at Acne Studios Blå Konst. It is about examining and celebrating the everyday and the beauty of specific design. – Jonny Johansson, Creative Director
Spring Summer 2018 Collection
For SS18, the shape of chewed gum becomes a multi-coloured abstract print that runs throughout the collection on pieces like indigo denim jackets and shorts, or oversized striped shirts. Blown-up images of receipts appear on the front of archetypal garments such as grey hooded sweatshirts. Denim has a contrast in treatments: either in pure indigo, or heavily overdyed and stonewashed. Freshly developed military twills and gabardines provide a correctness to workwear jackets, which contrast with synthetic poplins for fluid shirts and dresses. Silhouettes are magnified. Denim and workwear jackets sit away from the body, jeans and shorts are cut to be belted high, and t-shirts and sweatshirts have a pleasing slouch. – from Acne Studios
Acne Studios Blå Konst will be available in stores worldwide and on online from 15 March 2018.
