As you may assume by the title of this line, “Colour in Motion” was a celebration of a wide range of colours. Accompanied by a striking light show, the colourful inspirations for Spring Summer 2020, were presented. On 15m long thread curtains, that were situated around the whole setting, a thrilling and innovative play of light and colours was presented. This magic atmosphere was underlined by light artist Kurt Laurenz Theinert, who created the first worldwide “Visual Piano“. Thus, the whole audience was lifted to a very own visual world full of the most unique sounds and lights.
MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK BERLIN

The show on the 56m long zebra-striped catwalk was opened by renowned model Caroline Winberg. Her look was, by the way, one of our highlights: it contained of a flamingo-coloured combination of an overlength-blazer plus a knee- length shorts. This soft, graceful sorbet coloured- piece is, without any doubt, a good investment for any summer wardrobe. You may even wear it to your business meetings and, of course, be the best dressed guest during your leisure time meetings. After that look, the show started. It was the last show of Marc Cains‘ design director Katja Konradi. As location, “Velodrom”, which is one of the biggest event venues in Berlin, was chosen. It was, size wise, the biggest location Marc Cain ever selected. It is also used, as the name says, as a velodrome.

The colour-cocktail stayed true to Marc Cains‘ significant DNA, and therefore, the friends and fans of colours among you, will certainly be delighted when viewing this line. Bubblegum, fuchsia, magenta, scarlet, turquoise, sky blue, sunny yellow, azur blue, chartreuse, orange- we name it, this collection contains it all. Additionally, some timeless classics are applied as well, for instance sheer white, coffee, tortilla, chocolate, pewter, dove grey and night black. In most looks, a bunch of different hues is vividly mixed and matched together. Therefore, the overall image stays very refreshing and joyful. One of our favourite colour combination is vibrant yellow with eye-popping green.

Being significant for this collection are their powerful looks and, as the title of this line says, their moving colours. Apart of that, the print choice is a very vivid one as well: checks, strips, floral pattern plus geometric prints play a major role. Furthermore, as we know from previous seasons, animals and animal pattern must not be missing. It can be both found as all over- looks, and as welcome highlights. Maxi dresses and skirts in net optics are used repeatedly, and are preferably worn as layerings. Pleats, sequins and transparent highlights underline the playful character of this line.

“The impactful light installation and impressive location perfectly underlined the theme of the Show “Colour in Motion“ and the Marc Cain collections. A successful start to the new season“, explained Helmut Schlotterer, Chairman of the Board, Founder & Owner of Marc Cain.

The accessories reflected a contemporary vision, they were ranging from fisher hats, hairbands, visors to bags in the most diverse sizes and shapes. Shoe- wise, the variety was a rather large one: it ranged from comfortable, open sandals, that were preferably paired with socks, to wedges and elegant high heels. One turquoise high heel made of suede was provided with a see- through heel. Simply smooth!

“Colour in Motion” is a very summery, refreshing collection. It can be understood as an ode to celebrate colours and, on top of that, life in all its facets.
