Discover Arthur Arbesser‘s Spring Summer 2020 Collection, that tells an emotional story of designer’s grandmother’s romantic memories of Siebenbuergen, and her wicked sense of humor, presented on Wednesday, September 18th, during the ongoing Milan Fashion Week.
Spring Summer 2020 Womenswear
“Just a few months ago, Arthur Arbesser discovered one of his grandmother’s treasures: an archive of fabrics from her former wardrobe, spanning the decades between 1920 and the 1980s. From this find came the idea of patch-working Arbesser’s own fabrics – left over from past season’s productions – which now, in their own way, tell the stories of his work-life so far.
This season’s prints come on silk, crepe, and cotton popeline and represent various stages of his grandmother’s life: soft blue and white painted swirls recall typical Transylvanian ceramics, geometric color-blocked patterns symbolize the rigorous post-war architecture, whilst dots and florals convey the serenity she finally found. While the poetics of memories soften the female figure, humor and irony remain at the core of this emotional story.“
