Vanity Fair Italia collaborates with American Vanity Fair on the magazine’s special edition that focuses on the upcoming presidential elections and the current state of The United States of America. Cover star of America Year Zero issue is actress, political activist and environmentalist Jane Fonda.
The issue also features Radhika Jones’ story about New York at the time of the pandemic, Sonia Saraiya’s interesting article on the American dream, as well as the stories about climate change, social conflict, Black Lives Matter movement, inclusivity, gun control, and much more.
For the first time in the magazine’s history, together with Radhika Jones and the American editorial team, we have produced an extremely clear picture of the United States at the present moment. A country that is dealing with historical changes and transformations that are challenging the foundations of its history, its democracy and even its dream, the American Dream. We have chosen to feature Jane Fonda on our cover – more icon and activist than actress. 82 years old, a force of nature, a woman that has never stopped fighting and that perfectly embodies the doubts, questions and actions of an entire nation – Simone Marchetti – Editor in Chief of Vanity Fair Italia.
When Simone asked me and the Vanity Fair U.S. team to help edit an issue about America in 2020, we jumped at the chance. We report on the politics, celebrity, entertainment, and technology that drive our culture every day. But collaborating with Vanity Fair Italia, which has been doing such powerful and moving work this year, has helped us crystallize our own thoughts about what America represents and where it is headed. – Radhika Jones, Editor in Chief of Vanity Fair America
