Matthieu Blazy‘s latest for the Italian fashion brand brings us further into the world he is creating at Bottega Veneta. Since November 2021, the renowned Italian high-end fashion house Bottega Veneta has been under the direction of Matthieu Blazy. He is no stranger to the transformation of Bottega in the past years. In fact he’s part of it in June of 2020, became the Design Director of Bottega Veneta, serving as Lee’s right hand man in the role. Thus the continuance is not accidental, while we are seeing Bottega through Blazy’s lens the evolving of the brand in the eye of the newly acquired shoppers is still on the same course. Bottega for Pre-Fall focuses massively on accessory, which is not a surprise for a mid-season collection. The handbags even when smaller in size are no doubt statement pieces, yet Blazy at the same time does not shy away from an oversize bag.
The lines between menswear and womenswear are blurred, as view of traditional gender ideology is making less of a sense even in everyday life. Thus menswear pieces of the collection can easily be strong pieces of a womenswear look as well. Blazy makes sure to emphasize the use of denim in bottega collections with a total denim look. The colours are beautifully autumnal, yet minimal in its monochromatic viewpoint.
