MARINE SERRE‘s latest collection showcases an eclectic mix of trendy pieces, unique finds, and timeless classics. This season’s collection is all about embracing the primal and physical aspects of love through animalistic motifs.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
The show started with the initial strains of Debussy’s ‘Clair de Lune,’ a tribute to the nightlife and a nod to Marine Serre’s lunar crescent emblem. This classically transgressive track maintains its iconoclastic edge, providing the ideal base for a 15-minute reimagining that takes us on a journey through the evolution of electronic dance music. As per the words of the show’s music producer Pierre Rousseau, MARINE SERRE’s approach is all about radicality, regeneration, and hybridization, which perfectly complements the music.
This collection is a stunning display of various techniques, fabrics, and silhouettes, while half of the pieces were crafted from upcycled or deadstock materials, making it a true testament to the designer’s passion for sustainability.
The runway cast was a true reflection of house’s distinct style, showcasing a diverse array of models and eleven talented music artists including Teyana Taylor, Miguel, Aron Piper, Sevdaliza, Noah Cyrus, Yseult, Brooke Candy, Anetha, Pink Siifu, John Glacier and Aime Simone. The ensemble exudes a harmonious energy, moving in sync with a shared rhythm.
The stunning Teyana Taylor graced the stage as the opening act, donning a mesmerizing dress made from pleated scarves and upcycled tee shirts, expertly tailored to accentuate her alluring figure. MARINE SERRE’s latest work exemplifies her innovative design process, where materials are elevated to new heights. The two signature pillars of the brand have been reimagined and revitalized in a stunning display of creative synergy.
The collection features two stunning icons that stole the show at the party. The upcycled tee-shirts were artfully crafted into a patchwork of reborn passions, while the grey-washed upcycled camo was embodied by Pink Siifu, who vocalized resistance through joy.
Crochet and home clothing, once relegated to the domestic sphere, have been elevated to our opulent Red Line. With a playful touch, they exude an air of tenderness and closeness, captivating all eyes as they embody the essence of love. Model Rouguy Faye donned a meticulously crafted couture dress made from upcycled granny-square blankets, exemplifying a remarkable transformation.
The stunning hibiscus prints take inspiration from the breathtaking beauty of Hawaii, while the upcycled beach towels pay homage to the fiery sunsets. Brooke Candy is adorned in unisex skirts and revealing cut-out dresses, delicately draped with fond memories of past vacations. The pristine sponge makes a grand entrance for its regeneration debut.
The metallic-free silver leather takes center stage on the runway, shining brightly as it adds a captivating touch to a variety of styles, including trench coats, straight trousers, MS RISE sneakers, and the Stardust bag. The blinding flashes of light only enhance the allure of this stunning collection. These ensembles exude confidence and allure.
Denim takes center stage tonight with over ten stunning looks featuring the iconic blue jeans. MARINE SERRE’s denim collection is the epitome of spontaneous evenings out. It blends classic silhouettes with a new take on deadstock fabric, resulting in a harmonious blend of five-pocket styles, twisted seams, mini-skirts, boxy vests, and short dresses. Moons are the latest trend to elevate any outfit, whether it’s a laid-back look or a sophisticated affair. These celestial motifs are strategically placed on the bust and backside, exuding a subtle yet alluring charm. The pièce de résistance of the collection is undoubtedly the gown donned by Sevdaliza. Layers of regenerated denim have been expertly crafted into a couture dress, evoking a sense of formidable armor fit for everyday wear.
Yseult and Noah Cyrus reign supreme on the crimson carpet with their regal fashion choices. The runway is set ablaze with sleek black draped dresses, promising a night of unforgettable glamour. Miguel’s exquisite and harmonious ensemble served as a graceful finale, reminiscent of a soul-stirring down-tempo track that evokes both chills and spiritual contentment. The show is elevated by the power of music. The invitation, adorned with a portrait of Marine, playfully nods to the world of music merchandising. The Black Box club ambiance is perfectly captured in the set design. MARINE SERRE’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the eco-certified fabric that graces the venue. After the show, the fabric will be donated to cultural entities in the Parisian suburbs, staying true to the brand’s values.
As the show draws to a close, the evening transforms into a new kind of festivity: an afterparty hosted by three formidable women – JASS, Sevdaliza, and Anetha. Exhilarating moments of pure bliss.
