Lanvin and Future have teamed up to unveil the first-ever collection for Lanvin Lab. This inaugural collection, characterized by Future’s renowned strength and attitude, serves as a fitting launch for Lanvin Lab, a creative hub designed to foster collaboration and unique cultural dialogues among artists and designers. The collection, nicknamed Pluto, symbolizes regeneration and transformation. The name Pluto, reflecting qualities of the solar system’s former ninth planet, resonates with the idea of gaining new perspectives – a core aspect of the Lanvin Lab initiative.
The launch of this collection coincides with a significant era in Lanvin‘s history. In 1930, when Pluto was discovered, Jeanne Lanvin, the founder of Lanvin, was at the peak of her creativity, focusing on designing collections that highlighed the wearer’s comfort. Future, as the founder of Freebandz, an entertainment company with a strong focus on family, finds a deep connection with the mother-daughter relationship of Jeanne and Marguerite Lanvin.
Music, a key influence throughout Lanvin’s history, is the central theme of this first Lanvin Lab edition. Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter and muse, Marguerite, was an accomplished musician, making this collaboration with Future a harmonious blend of fashion and music.
Future’s vision for the collection is deeply personal. “I created a vibe with this collection, something you can feel when you wear it,” he says, mirroring Jeanne Lanvin’s approach to drawing inspiration from life and experience.
The Lanvin Lab By Future collection is unisex and showcases Future’s affinity for layering and tailoring, along with a remarkable flair for accessories. The collection features hats in faux fur paired with sunglasses, metal accents on belts, bags, gloves, and leather goods, and sleep sets that include slippers, a pillow, and a mask, embodying the theme of dreaming.
Two symbols are central to the collection: the Eagle, representing courage, majesty, truth, and a high-flying vision, and the Star, symbolizing protection and empowerment.
Drawing from the LANVIN archives, Future has crafted an exquisite jacket adorned with metallic studs embroidered onto leather, forming a sparkling constellation. He has also brought a contemporary twist to the collection by printing typography from 1930s-1940s Lanvin perfume campaigns onto denim and introducing his updated sneaker, the Curb 3.0.
The campaign photographed by Joshua Woods features model Amelia Gray and Future himself.
Lanvin Lab represents a new chapter for Lanvin, inviting creative minds from various disciplines to contribute to the brand’s rich heritage and evolving narrative.
