Apple TV+ is set to premiere its new drama series “The New Look” on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. This 10-episode historical drama, created by Todd A. Kessler, features a star-studded cast including Emmy winner Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel. The series also features performances from Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, Claes Bang as Spatz, and Glenn Close, a three-time Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee, portraying Carmel Snow, the legendary editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar.
“The New Look” is set during the Nazi occupation of Paris in World War II, a pivotal moment in the 20th century that saw the city lead the world back to life through fashion. The series focuses on the rise of Christian Dior, whose revolutionary fashion vision threatened Coco Chanel’s status as the world’s most famous designer. It explores the lives and careers of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals, including Pierre Balmain and Cristóbal Balenciaga, providing an inside look at their ateliers, designs, and the iconic clothing created by Dior.
The soundtrack is produced by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff. It features covers of early to mid-20th century songs by artists like Bleachers, Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, Matty Healy (The 1975), Beabadoobee, Nick Cave, and Perfume Genius.
Produced by Apple Studios and DB-AK Productions, “The New Look” is written, executive produced, and directed by Kessler, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Baker also serving as executive producers.
