The OUR LEGACY Fall 24 collection, named ‘feast,’ displays a gathering that is both disordered and out of context. The collection portrays an idea of festivities set in a proletarian backdrop, where the overall ensemble is centered around the minutiae of details. The fashion show is a coming together of people across generations, offering an eclectic reception that draws inspiration from various aspects of preparing for and enjoying a feast. The looks are defined by a blend of contrasting elements, featuring strict tie-knots layered under casual tracksuits covered in artificial cooking stains, as well as garments designed with adjustability in mind, perfect for accommodating long sittings. This collection is all about contrasts, combining delicate ballerina shoes with distressed denim, tailored suiting with ripped knitwear, creating a juxtaposition of styles.
OUR LEGACY’s Fall 24 collection also serves as a nostalgic journey into the details of home life. The outerwear category, in particular, draws inspiration from elements commonly found in homes, such as tablecloths, worn-down furniture, and curtains. This theme is further explored through the use of aprons and other kitchen-related details like shelving lace-borders and bread clamps, which are incorporated as prints for fabrics and molds for silver jewelry.
Cristopher Nying, the Creative Director, describes the collection as a revisitation of the characters from ‘Chambre Separée,’ their Fall 2019 show. These characters return after a hiatus, now older and more mature. Some characters in the narrative still find themselves borrowing garments and accessories to fit the occasion, a gesture that elevates youthful characters into more refined personas. Nying poses the question: “What would the look be without that tie, glasses, or glove?“
