The KENZO Spring-Summer 2024 Women’s and Men’s Campaign, under the creative vision of Nigo, continues the brand’s cultural dialogue between Japan and France. This season’s collection, originally shown on the iconic Passerelle Debilly—a picturesque footbridge that arches from Palais de Tokyo to the Eiffel Tower across the River Seine—finds its self on the bustling streets and refined salons of Paris. The campaign, shot with Paris’s monumental landmarks in the background and inside their opulent interiors, is photographed by Keizo Kitajima and Frank Lebon.
Fronting the campaign is a diverse cast that mirrors the global community which KENZO has always embraced. The collection draws inspiration from City Pop—a genre that blends pop, funk, and boogie to evoke the vibrant 1980s music scene—and translates it into a wardrobe that puts it in the context of Paris. The resulting preppy and poppy aesthetic bring together Japanese silhouettes and Western elements.
This year’s campaign creatively incorporates locations that are relevant to KENZO’s history, including Rue Vivienne, where the fashion house headquarters are, and Place des Victoires, the site of its historical flagship store in Paris. The narrative extends to the Arc de Triomphe and its surrounding metro stations, and the Hôtel de Soyecourt, famously known as Karl Lagerfeld’s former residence. The collaboration with Keizo Kitajima and Frank Lebon, who were previously invited to Japan for the Fall Winter 2023 campaign, continues in Paris, capturing the collection through everyday portraits and film that explores the cast’s personal affections for Paris.
