The collaboration between Olafur Eliasson and Peggy Gou on the music video “1+1=11” is a playful project that combines contemporary visual art, dance and electronic music. Eliasson, an artist known for his immersive environments that transform perception and light, brings this expertise into the realm of music video production, directing, and starring in the project. His participation goes beyond that to incorporate his own dance moves within the colorful confines of a light installation. This interplay between the artist’s body and the surrounding hues creates a dynamic space that visually interprets the song’s rhythms.
Peggy Gou’s track “1+1=11” provides the perfect auditory backdrop for such an experimental visual venture. Gou is a South Korean-born, Berlin-based DJ, and producer. Her collaboration with Eliasson on this project and her debut album “I Hear You” is a step into building a multidisciplinary art project. The music video and the album cover, featuring Eliasson’s Psychoacoustic empathy amp, share their vision of merging sound, visual art, and physical movement into a cohesive and immersive experience.

“Sculpture and dance are both non-verbal languages. Sometimes in order to communicate, you simply have to move,” Eliasson stated. “By bringing together dance with colorful shadows, lights, and mirrors, I was able to bring some of the key interests that have long shaped my art into an entirely new context.”
