On April 11th, 2024, Balenciaga takes a nostalgic step back into its past to reissue Le City, a line that epitomized the brand’s blending maximalist designs with practical utility. Originally launched in 2001, Le City returns, retaining its iconic status while embracing modern sensibilities and sustainability. To mark this momentous reintroduction, Balenciaga collaborates with the fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti to create a campaign that brings together a diverse array of talents including British fashion icon Kate Moss, Danish model Mona Tougaard, Chinese actress and singer Yang Chaoyue, and Korean singer Juyeon, each adding their unique essence against a minimalist grey backdrop.

The revival of Le City involves a study and remodel of various archival styles, culminating in a bag that embodies the essence of its predecessors through its 25-panel hand-assembled construction, with enhanced features. These include reinforced corners with petite metal buckles, distinctive thimble-like studs, and practical interior and exterior pockets, with each bag developing a unique patina as the leather matures.
Le City’s legacy continues to inspire, its design elements influencing another notable Balenciaga line, Le Cagole. However, Le City stands out for its fidelity to the original design, updated with an eye towards sustainability. Available in both medium and small sizes, the bag offers versatility with adjustable shoulder and crossbody straps. It debuts in a vibrant palette including black, yellow, green, light purple, metallic steel grey, metallic silver, white, blue, and beige, ensuring that Le City remains as enigmatic and desirable as it was at the turn of the millennium.
