Masayuki Ino‘s Doublet brought an electrifying close to Paris Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, transforming the traditional runway into an anime-themed fashion extravaganza. Known for its playful spirit, Doublet delighted attendees with a vibrant, festival-like atmosphere.
This season, the typical runway setup was abandoned. Guests found themselves on the academic grounds of lycée polyvalent de Turgot, where the backlot was adorned with rolled banners that concealed the runway. Embracing local culture, Doublet also treated attendees to a hot takoyaki stand, continuing its tradition of merging fashion with food.
The show kicked off with young students dressed in matching 2024 uniforms, who revealed the hidden runway by unrolling the banners. These banners, decorated with colorful illustrations of Japanese characters and heart-shaped animations, hinted at a collaboration with the Tokyo-based footwear brand, GAITE. With lively music setting the tone, the 39-look co-ed collection showcased Doublet’s distinctive, cheeky designs.
Ino’s opening pieces were shrouded in mystery, featuring militaristic wool coats adorned with metallic pompoms, embroidered cheerleader motifs on V-neck pullovers, and distressed leather denim. Football jerseys highlighted collaborations with Spiber Inc., while shredded cardigans with spider accents and varsity jackets with floral hoods added layers of intrigue. Attendees engaged with the show using custom-made judging paddles, enhancing the interactive experience.
The collection also included practical yet imaginative designs like Canadian tuxedos with utilitarian gilets, triple clasped closures, and capes. Ino balanced playful creativity with functional fashion, showcasing motorcycle jackets over cycling uniforms and reimagined Doublet-branded towels as everyday wear. The humorous “I Heart NY” tees were reinterpreted as “I Heart Protein” shirts, complete with graphics of uncooked beef.
Ultimately, Doublet’s SS25 collection celebrated imaginative, joyful fashion. Ino’s concept of having an “oshi” — someone to root for — resonated through the collection, honoring those dedicated to innovation and sustainability. This vibrant showcase underscored Doublet’s commitment to creativity and left a memorable mark on Paris Fashion Week, blending fun with forward-thinking design.
