VFILES has announced the release of their debut 2024/25 kit for Barnsley FC, in partnership with Puma, the club’s official athletic partner. This collaboration, spearheaded by VFILES’s Founder and Barnsley FC’s Co-Owner and Director, Julie Anne Quay, marks a significant moment for both organizations. With new Home, Away, and Third kits available for both men’s and women’s teams, the partnership promises to make a lasting impression on the football community.
Building on last season’s kits designed by KidSuper’s Colm Dillane, this collaboration with VFILES pays homage to Barnsley FC’s rich legacy while introducing a disruptive edge aimed at the next generation. The designs, deeply rooted in the symbols of Yorkshire, bring a fresh energy to the club’s image, making the kits wearable for both players and fans worldwide. “Barnsley Football Club is a place of possibilities. Being true to who we are at all times, with muck, nettles, grit, and backbone, is at the heart of our identity. We believe that these kits represent the authenticity, determination, and resilience that define the club,” Quay passionately stated.
Each kit in the collection stands out with bold colors and historical references. The Home kit features 21 stars, symbolizing victory and commemorating the club’s achievements. The Away kit incorporates the Yorkshire rose, elegantly embracing the body and celebrating the town’s heritage, while the crest is inspired by historical designs. The Third kit, in a striking pink, embodies the subversive spirit of both VFILES and Barnsley’s mascot, Toby Tyke, whose helm is prominently displayed on the shirt. This design highlights the club’s reclaiming of a derogatory term, turning it into a symbol of pride.
Barnsley FC, with its 137-year history and an FA Cup victory to its name, stands as one of the oldest clubs in the English FA. The new kits not only celebrate past victories but also aim to inspire the current team to add to the club’s legacy. VFILES brings its innovative DNA to the collaboration, infusing the designs with a rebellious spirit that has long resonated with New York City’s emerging creatives. “VFILES is a place of opportunity – discovering, identifying and incubating what’s new in the worlds of fashion, music and now football. If you want to be heard, you have to make noise. That is our mantra and the way we build, authentically loud and proud,” Quay emphasized.
The campaign unites Yorkshire with New York City, proving that the kits can be sported both on and off the field. Photographed by Daniel Berry at Oakwell, the Barnsley players are shown gearing up for the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, VFILES brought together its community and Barnsley fans in NYC. Captured by Adam Powell and styled by Dylan Andrews, the campaign highlights the Barnsley attitude as they take over the VFILES’ iconic 12 Mercer Soho location and the streets of New York. For the second season, the VFILES logo will be featured on the front of the Women’s shirt, supporting the diversity and opportunity in women’s football. The Yorkshire-inspired Away shirt will debut on July 13th at the first preseason game against Alfreton Town.
The 2024/25 Home, Away, and Third kits will be available in adult and kids sizes and can be purchased at barnsleyfc.co.uk, the Barnsley FC club store, and the VFILES 12 Mercer HQ. The Home kit launches on July 24th, the Away kit on August 2nd, and the Third kit on August 9th, with the Goalkeeper kit to follow shortly. This collaboration not only showcases the rich heritage of Barnsley FC but also marks a significant step in the fusion of fashion and football, bringing a new level of excitement to fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
wow! Love to see VFILES again, and what a cool collab!
