After much speculation, Jean Paul Gaultier has officially announced that Ludovic de Saint Sernin will be the fashion house’s next guest designer. The Paris-based Belgian designer is set to create and present a couture collection for the iconic brand, with the show expected to take place in January during Paris Couture Week. This confirmation makes de Saint Sernin the eighth designer to take on this prestigious role, following in the footsteps of notable names such as Chitose Abe, Simone Rocha, Julien Dossena, Haider Ackermann, Olivier Rousteing, Glenn Martens, and Nicolas Di Felice.

The guest designer program, which Gaultier introduced after his retirement from fashion in 2020, invites designers to reinterpret the brand’s 50-year legacy while infusing their own unique style. De Saint Sernin’s selection continues this tradition, offering a fresh take on Gaultier’s celebrated aesthetic.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin, a graduate of École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré, has built an impressive career in fashion. He gained experience at Balmain and Dior before launching his own label in 2017. Most recently, he had a brief stint at Ann Demeulemeester in 2023 and chose to present his collection during New York Fashion Week in February 2024.
The highly anticipated collection from de Saint Sernin for Jean Paul Gaultier is set to bring his modern, sensual designs to the forefront, blending the storied history of the fashion house with his distinct creative vision.
