Art Basel Miami Beach is set to welcome the largest iteration yet of the Art Basel Shop, an innovative concept store designed to celebrate artists and offer exclusive products that embody the spirit of the renowned art fair. This third edition of the shop will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) from December 4 to 8, 2024, coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach, whose Global Lead Partner is UBS. With more than 2,000 square feet of space, the shop will showcase a wide variety of products, including Art Basel’s own AB by Art Basel and AB by Artist lines, as well as exclusive collectibles and heirlooms created in collaboration with some of today’s most dynamic brands and artists.
Curated by Parisian creative powerhouse Sarah Andelman, the Art Basel Shop aims to deepen the connection between the fair’s audience and contemporary art. This year, the shop will be spread across three prominent locations within the MBCC—the West Lobby, Grand Ballroom, and East Lobby—ensuring increased visibility and accessibility. Notably, the Art Basel Shop will be freely accessible to the general public, meaning visitors can explore the store without needing a ticket to the main show. The shop’s concept has been carefully conceived to be an integral part of the Art Basel Miami Beach experience, creating new opportunities for visitors to engage with Modern and contemporary art.
One of the major highlights of the 2024 edition is a collaboration with Brazilian artist Paulo Nimer Pjota, who has designed a capsule collection for the AB by Artist line. Known for his poetic, energetic canvases that explore intersections between historical, pop-cultural, and everyday themes, Pjota has crafted a series of items, including tie-dye T-shirts, tote bags, hats, and notebooks adorned with motifs depicting hybrid, mystical beings. Pjota will also be making an appearance at the shop for a signing event on December 5. This collaboration exemplifies the Art Basel Shop’s goal of blending artistic vision with everyday products, making art more accessible and wearable.
Art Basel’s dedication to celebrating its history is evident through the introduction of the new AB by Art Basel Heritage line. Drawing inspiration from the 1994 Art Basel catalog, the heritage line features a playful reimagining of the iconic Art Basel logo, spelling out “Party” in a nod to Miami Beach’s lively atmosphere. This collection includes a range of products—such as tote bags, apparel, beach towels, playing cards, and even golf balls—many of which will be available in bright, Miami-inspired hues of pink and mint green. The Art Basel Shop thus not only celebrates art, but also pays homage to the unique cultural vibe of Miami Beach.
The shop also features collaborations with renowned artists and brands to create limited-edition products, including Christmas ornaments hand-painted by British artists Kaye Donachie and Sola Olulode, a poster series by digital artist Tyler Hobbs, and sunglasses designed by Italian artist Paola Pivi. These products—ranging from functional accessories to playful collectibles—represent Art Basel’s commitment to fostering artist-brand partnerships that expand the boundaries of creative expression. Visitors can also browse an eclectic selection of monographs, zines, and other publications featuring prominent 20th-century and contemporary artists, including KAWS, Peter Halley, and José Parlà.
Complementing the curated products, the third edition of the Art Basel Shop will host a variety of events, including book signings and artist meet-and-greets, inviting the public to interact directly with artists and gain insight into their creative processes. With a robust schedule of activations, this iteration of the Art Basel Shop promises an immersive experience where art lovers can connect with both established and emerging talent. Custom furniture by Swiss heritage brand USM will add to the shop’s visual appeal. Visitors can expect a dynamic fusion of art, culture, and commerce that makes the world of contemporary art accessible in new and imaginative ways.
