Historical Transformation With MGallery Liverpool
The iconic Municipal Buildings, once the home of Liverpool City Council, have been transformed into a luxurious hotel. The bright, spacious areas with high ceilings and palm trees now house the beautiful Palm Court Bar, a central feature of the hotel with its state-of-the-art bar. The building originally constructed between 1862 and 1868, was designed to accommodate a growing administrative staff of the city.
Today, the hotel offers 179 modern and luxurious bedrooms, providing a comfortable stay that seamlessly blends historic inspiration with contemporary coziness. Each room is a perfect mix of old-world charm and modern amenities, ensuring guests enjoy both comfort and style.
A Culinary Story at MGallery
Adjacent to Palm Court is a stunning library with colorful velvet couches and Seaforth, a British brasserie with a worldly exotic twist. The menus, influenced by global flavors, showcase vibrant plates reflecting Liverpool’s historical trade connections. By night, the afternoon tearoom, adorned with a grand cherry tree, transforms into an exclusive cocktail bar.
Echoes of the Past and the New Chapter
The corridors, once filled with the sounds of typewriters and old landline phones, now lead to rooms that blend the past with the present. The building, reopened on May 10, 2023, as The Municipal Hotel Liverpool, MGallery by Accor, stands as a striking example of preserved architectural elegance. Its quadrangular structure, constructed of stone with a lead roof, features a 210 ft (64 m) tower with a clock and five bells.
Nine pavilions at each corner are topped with convex-hipped mansard-style roofs, adorned with ornamental ironwork. The design reflects Italian and French Renaissance styles, with eighteen sandstone figures representing Liverpool’s arts, sciences, and industries. The building’s most distinctive feature, a pyramidal spire, is visible throughout the city. Turning MGallery Liverpool into a true landmark of the city.
A Sanctuary of Relaxation
The Thermae Spa is a modern sanctuary, inviting guests to indulge in relaxation with its 16 m indoor pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and luxurious treatments. Designed with contemporary elegance, the spa offers a serene environment where guests can unwind and rejuvenate, providing a perfect escape from the bustling city outside.
