LUU DAN, a brand synonymous with bold narratives and impactful designs, has launched its eighth collection titled “YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE.” This latest release consists of 27 looks that continue the brand’s tradition of challenging societal norms and expressing social commentaries through fashion. The collection will be accessible on the brand’s official website, and is also available at prestigious global retailers such as SSENSE, H. Lorenzo, Browns, GR8, Addicted Seoul, ESSX, Patron of the New, and Antidote, among others.
The collection draws inspiration from the gritty life of a night market butcher, a figure steeped in desperation and disillusionment. This character, introduced in the FW25 collection, embodies the struggles of the marginalized, those cast aside by society. The narrative explores themes of injustice and individual agency, portraying the butcher’s transformation into a radicalized figure seeking retribution and autonomy.
To authentically depict this dark yet compelling story, LỰU ĐẠN collaborated with notable figures from its creative community. Errolson Hugh, founder and Creative Director of ACRONYM, and Peter Ash Lee, a celebrated Korean Canadian photographer and model, both lend their unique perspectives and experiences to the campaign. Their involvement ensures that each piece not only represents high fashion but also resonates with cultural and personal significance.
The design ethos of the collection is marked by an architectural approach to silhouette construction, emphasizing voluminous and exaggerated forms that shield and empower the wearer. The use of materials like rubber, rubberized denim, and metal, along with special techniques such as hand-distressed wool and x-ray imaging, enhances the themes of protection and resilience. This meticulous attention to detail ensures each piece is not only a fashion statement but a form of armor against societal injustices.
Among the standout items in this collection are the suede and faux-fur Bontan trousers, a crumpled nylon trench coat, and various masked ensembles that symbolize unity and strength. These pieces are designed not just to be worn but to make a statement, a call to resistance against the oppressive forces that many face daily.
As LỰU ĐẠN continues to carve out its niche in the fashion industry, it does so not merely by creating clothes but by fostering a movement. This collection is a battle cry, a visual narrative that invites its audience to confront harsh realities and join in the fight for a more just world. In a time when fashion often seems removed from the trials of everyday life, LỰU ĐẠN responds by ensuring its creations are both reflective of and responsive to the deeper currents shaping our society.
