MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon continue their collaboration with the release of their first ready-to-wear capsule for Fall-Winter 2024, marking a seamless blend of urban minimalism and performance technology. This collection celebrates the convergence of the two brands’ philosophies, offering a modern wardrobe that balances functionality with progressive design.
The capsule is divided into two categories: Gore-Tex and Seamless, each exemplifying a fusion of the brands’ signature elements. MM6 Maison Margiela’s iconic, understated aesthetic is elevated through Salomon’s advanced activewear technology, resulting in a harmonious yet radical reinterpretation of contemporary staples.
The ready-to-wear selection offers an array of nude, black, and white pieces, providing a neutral canvas that emphasizes versatility. Tailored volumes alternate between anatomic fits, like stretch seamless leggings and crew-neck tops, and protective outerwear, including breathable Gore-Tex trenches, five-pocket pants, windbreakers, and oversized button-down shirts. These pieces encapsulate a minimalist sensibility that blurs the line between everyday wear and outdoor functionality.
In footwear, MM6 Maison Margiela reimagines two Salomon classics with a dark, urban edge. The ACS PRO 2 MM6 running shoe is available in concrete gray with subtle silver accents and a matte black version featuring a glossy tar-black structure, evoking an industrial exoskeleton. Meanwhile, the CROSS LOW MM6 offers a fresh spin on the Speedcross trail-running silhouette, introducing new low proportions and bold colorways, including bubblegum pink with bright red and almond with army green, accented by a vivid acid yellow heel detail encased in forest green.
The footwear’s drawstring ripstop nylon closure adds an element of both nostalgia and futurism, reminiscent of galoshes and extreme sportswear. Taped waterproof seams and reflective accents on the green version enhance the design’s functional appeal, reflecting the collection’s fusion of utility and fashion-forward thinking.
Rounding out the capsule is a reimagined version of Salomon’s Trailblazer DAYPACK 20 MM6, offered in black or mastic ripstop nylon. With its multiple pockets and a mix of flat and raised shapes, the backpack becomes an urban accessory, designed for modern lifestyles while maintaining an outdoor spirit.
This all-gender capsule collection embodies the ways activewear has infiltrated streetwear, creating a modular wardrobe that allows for mixing and layering. The line offers a contemporary take on the modern uniform, bridging the gap between performance gear and urban sophistication.
The MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon capsule collection launches on November 7th and will be available on the MM6 and Salomon e-commerce platforms, in their flagship stores, and through select multibrand retailers. This collaboration continues to explore the relationship between functionality and style, proving that the boundaries between activewear and streetwear are more fluid than ever.
