Feng Chen Wang draws inspiration from Shan Hai Jing, a 2,500-year-old Chinese text that envisioned a cosmos filled with mythical creatures and enigmatic landscapes. This ancient masterpiece, shrouded in mystery, captured imaginations with its vivid tales and remains an enduring source of creativity. For Feng Chen Wang, it serves as the foundation of her Fall Winter 2025 collection, where the past and present collide in a symphony of artistry.
Central to this collection are mythical beasts, brought to life through handcrafted ceramic sculptures created in collaboration with Jingdezhen artisans, famed for their ceramic expertise. These sculptures, with their flowing glazes and intricate forms, embrace the beauty of imperfection and inspire the collection’s visual identity. Their presence appears across the designs, with prints and patterns woven into fabrics, showcasing Feng’s ability to connect tradition with innovation.
The color palette leans into earthy tones, complemented by vintage denim and sculptural outerwear. This season, outerwear takes center stage, offering styles that cater to varied climates and tastes. Feng’s signature tailoring evolves with bonded neoprene fabric, an inventive material that emulates traditional wool textures while embodying strength and fluidity.
Traditional Chinese ink painting informs the collection’s bespoke fabrics, developed in-house and hand-painted to reflect the artistry of brushstrokes. This approach highlights Feng’s deep connection to her heritage, balancing cultural significance with contemporary aesthetics.
The collaboration with UGG delivers a standout moment, transforming the Tasman Lug shoes into sculptural masterpieces inspired by mythical creatures. These wearable artworks blur the line between functionality and fantasy. The signature bamboo bag, updated with multicolored, painterly effects, furthers the collection’s creative narrative, merging practicality with artistic depth.
