Adidas SPZL steps into Spring Summer 2025 by reworking its archive through fresh silhouettes and curated apparel. Under the direction of longtime curator Gary Aspden, the label delivers a cinematic collection that reflects adidas’ past with a firm eye on the present. Shot by music photographer Kevin Cummins and brought to life through a short film directed by Nick Griffiths and produced by &SON, the campaign stars British actor James Nelson Joyce, a longtime adidas SPZL supporter.
The footwear lineup consists of six distinct styles, each rooted in vintage references and modified for today’s pace. The TRX Mesh SPZL kicks off the offering with a redesign of the classic TRX runner. Keeping its familiar blue and yellow palette, the shoe features an updated upper pattern, subtly refreshing a beloved silhouette without straying from its core.

Next, the Handball Cup SPZL builds on mid-80s handball styles by fusing elements of two key references. The foundation comes from the 1983 Handball Spezial, known for its blue and white colorway, while the sweeping leather overlay below the collar borrows from the Handball Top. With a red accent, soft suede upper, and a white dimpled tongue over a gum rubber outsole, this style feels era-appropriate but newly constructed.
The Failsworth SPZL takes its cue from the rarely seen adidas Barbados and applies a suede build with a T-toe borrowed from a vintage adidas Universal SL. Chocolate brown tongue branding finishes the shoe with a nod to classic Made in France models. Meanwhile, the Roelee SPZL replaces the Whalley SPZL with a new shape that combines elements from the Gazelle SPZL and Whalley. The T-toe overlay now stretches all the way to the heel, creating a smoother line and more cohesive structure.

Drawing inspiration from an obscure Made in Philippines model called the adidas Squire, the Pampanga SPZL revives the original outsole while refining the upper for a closer fit, especially at the toe. Its name references the Filipino province of Pampanga, honoring the shoe’s lesser-known production roots while revamping its profile.
Closing the footwear segment, the A Aspden SPZL references the Las Palmas tennis shoe and borrows its Hawaii tooling. For the upper and tongue, the design team turned to various 1970s court shoes. They wanted to stay faithful to the style codes of the decade by adding a signature, which presented a challenge. Since this isn’t a performance shoe tied to a specific athlete, the team chose a personal touch instead, the signature of Gary Aspden’s late father, a hand engraver with an eye for fonts and a unique autograph. His handwriting fit naturally with the design and added a subtle personal layer to the shoe.

The apparel maintains the line’s identity while adding refined details for the season. The Halewood SPZL Parka leads the collection with a lightweight nylon build and tonal embroidery on the back. It comes in forest green and black, offering versatility for transitional weather. The Billinge SPZL Hoodie, Brockhall SPZL Tee, and Mod SPZL Tee continue the collection’s focused design ethos, while the Hudswell SPZL Jacket and Shorts make use of ripstop fabric to rework athletic staples. The Salesbury SPZL Trousers feature a tapered cut, zippered pockets, and a relaxed half-cuff leg. To finish, the Wardour SPZL Vest strips down the Wardour jacket into a sleeveless silhouette with a tonal Mod Trefoil print.

Accessories round out the drop with thoughtful additions. The ST10 SPZL Bag and matching Hip Bag use the same materials and color codes found in the ST rain jackets, while the Mod Trefoil SPZL Cap and twin-pack of socks provide low-key finishing touches.
Adidas SPZL Spring Summer 2025 becomes available in limited quantities starting March 27, launching through the Confirmed app and select retailers.
