Known for its sculptural boots and unconventional silhouettes, the London-based label Miista is turning its attention to the sneaker scene with the launch of the Nikoletta, a sleek, sport-inspired design that riffs on the athletic aesthetics of 1980s boxing and football. This is Miista at its most laid-back, but the craftsmanship and point of view remain razor sharp.

At first glance, the Nikoletta doesn’t scream for attention, and that’s the point. The design is intentionally understated, from its smooth goat leather body to the fold-over tongue that subtly references old-school wrestling shoes. The outsole is rugged but streamlined, while tonal side panels add just enough contrast to give the shoe dimension. It’s available in three colorways, black, black and white, and brown/navy, all of which feel considered and quietly confident.

Miista’s Slow-Made Sneaker Philosophy
While the sneaker market is often dominated by technical specs and futuristic silhouettes, Miista brings its own formula to the table. Founded in a studio in East London in 2011, the brand has always leaned into small-batch production and traditional techniques. The Nikoletta reflects that philosophy: modern in form, but grounded in craft. Every detail, from stitching to material choice, is about slowing down the process, not speeding it up.

Creative director Laura Villasenin frames the project not as a pivot, but as part of a long-term commitment to exploration. “The ‘you’re not there yet’ speech in this industry drives us to keep trying and experimenting,” she says. “We committed to never arriving. This commitment gives us the freedom to perfect our craft.”
At $415 USD, the sneaker is positioned squarely in the premium space, but it doesn’t chase hype. Instead, it’s aimed at those who appreciate refinement in function and form. You won’t find flashy branding or overbuilt soles here. What you will find is a versatile shape that moves easily between casual and elevated dressing, a shoe made for people who know exactly what they’re looking at. Available now online and at Miista’s New York flagship, the Nikoletta marks a fresh chapter for a brand better known for boots than bench presses.
