Nike reintroduces one of its most talked-about colorways from the late ‘90s with the upcoming release of the Air Max Dn “Celery.” Scheduled to launch in Spring 2025, the shoe builds off the legacy of the original Air Tuned Max “Celery” from 1999 but updates its look through the lens of today’s sneaker design.

The colorway pulls directly from its predecessor, but the build of the Air Max Dn adds structure and intent. Nike applies an Off-Noir and Dark Russet palette across the upper, using deep brown mesh as the foundation. This breathable material forms the core of the shoe and adds texture to the overall design. Nike contrasts the mesh with black synthetic overlays that stretch across the midfoot and heel, giving the silhouette a modern edge without erasing its roots.

A bronze mudguard wraps around the shoe, reinforcing the build while adding a subtle metallic contrast. This choice echoes the futuristic feel that originally made the “Celery” colorway so recognizable. Nike balances this with hits of neon green, most notably on the four-chamber Dynamic Air units that define the Air Max Dn line. These bright accents inject retro energy into the otherwise grounded palette, pulling attention straight to the sole unit and connecting the past to the present.

The Air Max Dn “Celery” rides on a black Dynamic Air midsole and outsole. Nike introduced the Dynamic Air system as an evolution in Air Max cushioning, featuring four interconnected tubes that adapt with each step. The system adjusts pressure levels in real time to offer support and rebound across different movements. The blacked-out base helps anchor the shoe’s louder elements while delivering performance for everyday wear.

While the design calls back to a niche cult favorite, Nike clearly built this release with today’s sneaker audience in mind. The Air Max Dn series already stands as one of the brand’s more progressive silhouettes, and with “Celery,” it adds a level of visual familiarity for those who grew up with the early Tuned Air lines. The mix of materials, mesh, synthetic overlays, and metallic elements, gives the shoe both edge and comfort.

Nike quietly dropped the Air Max Dn “Celery” in Asia earlier this season, where it quickly gained traction among collectors and fans of early 2000s styles. A wider release will roll out later this spring, with an MSRP of $160 USD. The shoe will be available through Nike’s official channels and select retailers.
