NIGO and Nike are teaming up once again for a fresh take on the Air Force 3 Low. Slated for release on April 24, 2025, the “Black Croc” edition brings together vintage basketball design, music nostalgia, and NIGO’s signature approach to streetwear.
This reimagined Air Force 3 Low showcases a layered build of premium materials. The upper features smooth black leather panels paired with croc-embossed overlays, offering a visual depth reminiscent of vintage fashion with a clear nod to opulent ‘80s aesthetics. A metallic silver Swoosh stands out against the dark upper, while chrome-finished heel counters and retro hangtags bring a sense of throwback energy rooted in early Nike Basketball releases.

Design references throughout the shoe reflect NIGO’s deep-rooted influence from classic hip-hop culture. A custom tongue tag draws inspiration from vinyl record labels, printed with collaborative branding that includes NIGO’s signature mark. Inside, a printed insole and custom textile sockliner elevate the sneaker’s interior, adding another layer of detail that reflects his methodical approach to storytelling through product.

Nike Air cushioning spans the full-length midsole, preserving the performance foundation of the Air Force 3. The chunky silhouette stays true to its original proportions, retaining the padded collar and robust outsole that defined the basketball models of the late ‘80s. The co-branded chain detail draped over the laces further enhances the old-school influence, echoing the gold chains often associated with rap pioneers of the era.

The campaign surrounding the release doesn’t stray from NIGO’s playful and referential style. A fictional radio station called “W-AF3 FM” hosts a puppet version of NIGO, narrating the story behind the sneaker through music-themed skits.

Each pair arrives in exclusive packaging that builds on the visual theme. The box features oversized “Air Force 3” typography and retro-styled graphics, aligning with the sneaker’s nods to past decades of music and fashion. While the “Black Croc” edition is one half of a dual release – alongside a “White Croc” colorway – it’s the darker pair that brings the strongest link to early hip-hop style with its textured finish and chromed accents.
