Shanghai Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2025 wrapped with a strong emphasis on homegrown talent and shifting priorities in China’s fashion scene. With major names like Shushu/Tong and Jacques Wei headlining the schedule, the season leaned into storytelling and commercial accessibility. Despite ongoing global uncertainty, showrooms in Shanghai saw a noticeable increase in traffic, reaffirming the city’s importance in the direct-to-consumer fashion space. While the runways spoke of reinvention and heritage, the sidewalks delivered a more immediate kind of style narrative, one defined by individuality. Photographer Sohom Das captured standout looks at Shanghai Fashion Week, showcasing how showgoers brought the Fall Winter 2025 season to life on the streets.
STREET STYLE
Black dominated the color palette outside the shows, worn head-to-toe in slouchy, oversized silhouettes or elevated with sleek tailoring. One showgoer paired wide-legged trousers with a fitted crewneck and a zip-up hoodie, while another made a statement in a belted floor-length leather trench, her companion opting for a more understated combination of a grey wool coat and loose denim. Off-duty models brought casual cool in vintage-inspired leather jackets, Balenciaga totes, and logo waistbands peeking above baggy jeans, punctuated with keychains and clipped accessories. The styling was confident, minimal, and exacting in its ease.

Fur, both real and faux, was another recurring theme. A full shag coat layered over animal-print chiffon and pointed boots created one of the more dramatic silhouettes, while another guest softened her look with a cropped faux fur jacket over a black mini and sheer polka-dot tights. Playfulness was part of the language too: a blush pink cutout dress worn with a fox-eared fur hat, stacked belts, and fun charms offered levity among the monochrome. As Shanghai continues to define itself on the global fashion stage, its streets are fast becoming a runway of their own.
